Food Allergy Friendly Cookie Decorating Party

For the past five years, I’ve hosted a gingerbread cookie decorating party. The second year the moms and I decided that Christmas Pajamas were a must and then a tradition was born. This is my favorite party to throw and fairly easy. This party can easily be made food allergy friendly with the help of some recipes I’ve linked below. This year we had a gingerbread cookie but I added sugar cookies to the mix to so that there was not shortage of cookies to decorate. The kids had a blast, it was messy chaotic and everything you want in a cookie decorating party. Below are the recipes I used and some tips and tricks.

Vegan Gluten Free Gingerbread Men by Minimalist Baker. I subbed out the almond butter for sun butter to make delicious gingerbread men that were easy to roll out.

1-Bowl Vegan Sugar Cookies by Minimalist Baker. I subbed out the all-purpose flour for Gluten Free all-purpose flour and found this recipe very easy to use.

Both cookies turned out GREAT and made a relatively small batch. I use Pamela’s Gluten Free All Purpose Flour. Or I make my own. I used another sugar cookie recipe that had all the allergens for the rest of the kids.

I did not make the icing. I had intentions to but then a moment of sanity hit me and I found food allergy friendly icing at the store. DONE AND DONE. I loaded the table with sprinkles and icing and away they went with decorating. The bowl of oranges placed just in case someone wanted to put something healthy in their mouth.

The next thing I did was make a reindeer food bar. Definitely place this baby outside as it gets messy fast! My son knocked over the container of glitter within 2.5 seconds of going to gather his reindeer food. I will do this again next year as the kids loved it. I may spread it out more and supervise as some of those bags were heavy.

The print outs for my reindeer food came from Kelle Hampton, her Holiday PDF. Worth every penny as it has so many easy ideas for holiday crafts and parties.

Of course we had hot cocoa and it was delicious. I used another recipe from Minimalist Baker and it was rich and creamy. I used the following ingredients with some sugar and it all came together so fast.

Fortunately, it was a beautiful day outside and was the kids were filled with sugar we set them free outside to run and run and run. All in all another success with all of us eager to do it again next year. A huge thanks to Minimalist Baker for the awesome vegan and gluten-free recipes. Helping me prove that you can make any party food allergy friendly.
